Dock Diving is a competitive event where dogs leap off a dock into a body of water in pursuit of a thrown object, usually a toy or a bumper. In a typical dock diving event, dogs run down a dock, leap into the water, and retrieve a toy thrown by their handler. The distance the dog jumps is measured, and the longest jumps win. Competitions may also include height and speed challenges, where dogs jump over a raised bar or race against the clock. Dock diving is open to all breeds and mixed breeds, and dogs of all sizes and ages over 6 months can participate, making it a highly inclusive sport. It's not only a thrilling activity for dogs but also a great way for owners to bond with their pets and showcase their athleticism.
Dock Diving is regulated by North American Diving Dogs (NADD). However, AKC does recognize NADD titles. A dog must be registered with NADD in order to compete in dock diving trials and earn titles. Click HERE for the full NADD rulebook.
